About GO SPACE:
The relentless pursuit of space exploration and the burgeoning demand for interplanetary and non-terrestrial connectivity necessitate the development of highly efficient and scalable communication network architectures. Traditional network paradigms, designed for terrestrial environments, struggle to adapt to the unique challenges posed by space environments. These challenges include extreme propagation delays, intermittent connectivity, and harsh radiation conditions, which can significantly hinder the reliable and timely transmission of data.
To address these limitations, the GO SPACE project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant, proposes a novel approach that leverages the principles of goal-oriented communication. By shifting the focus from strict real-time constraints to the underlying goals and objectives of data transmission, GO SPACE aims to optimize resource utilization, improve network performance, and enable the efficient transfer of critical data, even in the face of significant delays and disruptions.
